While not my first knitted socks, these are my first complete pair in sock yarn. (I've made a pair in worsted, and a single in sock yarn.)

Yarn: The heels and toes are Koigu, if I remember correctly? I have enough remaining to maybe do the toes and heels of another pair.
Main body of sock: Lion brand Magic Stripes, now discontinued. I had 1 skein of 440 yards, which was enough-- except that I finished the first sock with no problems, and then discovered about 12 breaks in the second half of the skein. Did I mention it's discontinued? And since it's self-patterning, I had to wind it out, match the colors, and then weave in a dozen extra ends when I was done. The longest bit of the yarn was two complete repeats of the stripes. But I was darn well determined to finish this pair of socks!
Construction: Top-down, with afterthought heel.
These are surprisingly comfy, and assuming I can keep them from yarn-eating creatures (the cats, mostly) they should do me pretty well through autumn and into winter.
